At Decision Point Scottsdale, we identify clients’ problems, not label them as 'addicts’ or ‘alcoholics’. The conditions that many of us may believe to be addiction are, in fact, varying degrees of substance use disorder and are very often accompanied by co-occurring mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and trauma. Abuse of drugs or alcohol is a destructive and chronic disease and should be treated like any other chronic illness; with compassion, aggressive treatment, and realistic expectations of life-long management. Each of our outpatient clients is facing a unique set of problems and situations and we get that. So we work tirelessly to identify their unique set of conditions so that we can understand their causes and develop an individualized outpatient treatment plan. By refusing to use destructive labels, we create the opportunity for more effective treatment and real, lasting change.
